Rounders
Having qualified for the Colchester and North East Essex Rounders Finals I took the rounders team to Alton Park who were hosting the tournament. There were six schools at the tournament who had qualified through three other competitions. The schools were: Alton Park, Holland Park, Hamilton, Prettygate, Frobisher and Engaines.
As in all finals the games were all close but we still managed to win our first four games. Our last game was against Prettygate School, who had also won their first four games, so we were in for a tense decider. Engaines batted first and scored 3 ½ rounders and Prettygate, in their innings, scored 5 rounders.
Prettygate were Champions and Engaines Runners Up. However, with Engaines beating Alton Park our consolation was winning the overall title of Clacton and Area Champions.
It was an excellent display of how to play the game of rounders and I was very proud of the children’s efforts.
Gold Assembly – Monday 28th June – Lower Key Stage 2
England 1 Slovenia 0
We had a fantastic time in the school hall on Wednesday with many staff and about 100 children watching England qualify for the next stage of the World Cup.
The hall exploded with noise from the kick off, the roof was lifted when Defoe scored, and again with the disallowed goal. Tension was high as England defended their lead and supporting chants from the children and the blast of the Vuvuzela must have been heard in Colchester. What fun – let’s hope we can do it again.
Protect Your Child
With the U.V. levels at very high and this hot spell expected to continue into next week, please remember to protect your child. Sun cream, hats and sunglasses are all part of this. KEEP YOUR CHILD SAFE!!
Class ZW/LN
Class ZW/LN had a super sunny sandy day at the seaside on Wednesday. The children enjoyed talks from Beach Patrol and the Lifeboats. They paddled in the sea, skimmed pebbles, played in the sand, ate sausage and chips and licked lovely ice cream. Thank you to all the grown ups who helped to make this special day. Well done Class ZW/LN your behaviour was fantastic!!
School Website
This week’s interesting feature on the school website home page is Mrs. Nunn and Mrs. Wentworth’s class trip to the seaside. There are lots of lovely photographs and a few videos. The videos were taken on a phone so not all of your computers might be able to play the format.
Craft Club
Please note that there will be no Craft Club on Wednesday 30th June.
PLEASE REFER TO WEEK 2 FOR MENU NEXT WEEK
