Booster Meeting

October 11, 2016

FP Band Room

Meeting was called to order at 6:32.

Old Business – TAG Day donations continue – Julie Oglesby:

  • Money is still coming in to the band.
  • Hope to get a report in soon regarding total so far.

-Successful 8th grade night celebration -

  • Approximately 54-56 8th graders attended.
  • Need to get info to IT students regarding marching band possibilities
  • Maybe set up table to greet students at their schools to distribute information
  • Middle schools still do not seem to know that marching is possible for IT students

-Portrait for cleaners? Game Tickets? – Scarlett Abila:

  • Need to get an 8”x10” of the entire band in stands to hang in the cleaners shop to help promote our school to all their customers.
  • Have purchased 2 tickets to football games for their use in appreciation for all their service

New Business –

Ashland Fun Run – Saturday October 10th – Tracy Jack

  • Event for students will end at race start which is approximately 8:00 am.
  • Park as close to Warm Springs Drive as possible to alleviate exiting problems.
  • Students can wear band t-shirts, jeans and ball caps or section jackets.

Hanover Competition – Rob Specketer

  • Will leave school around 12 noon. Anticipating heavy traffic.
  • Warm up around 3:00 pm, perform at 3:45 pm
  • There are 10 bands in our division III. We are the 9th band scheduled.
  • 35 bands in total will compete.

Tiny Tots – Kim Cox, Jen Tyson

  • Tiny Tots concert scheduled November 29th & 30th.
  • Tickets are slowly being sold.
  • Some elementary schools such as Rosa Parks will not be attending as usual due to not getting paperwork in on time.
  • Patti Elementary is questionable. Will check on Antietam Elementary.

Board Members/Members at Large:

  • VP – Button orders coming in.
  • Treasurer – Tag Day receipts totaling approx. $18,202.
  • Expenses are almost covered for the season.
  • Public Affairs – Ben Guinan not present, no report.
  • Fundraising – Ingrid E.
  • American Steakhouse coming up soon. Boosters get % of all receipts that night.
  • Applebee’s – pancake breakfast fundraiser a possibility. Requires $100 deposit. Receive 100% of receipts after cost.
  • Lanyards could be sold. Minimum order 100.
  • IHOP – received $112 last Friday from sales after game. Side note: manager had mistakenly told staff wrong date which explained problems experienced that night.
  • Mr. Specketer will make an insert regarding upcoming fundraiser at American Steakhouse that will be inserted in Fall Concert program.
  • Looking into after season fundraisers – Bowling or Flight.
  • Uniforms – Scarlett A.
  • Need to order approx. 30 pairs of scrubs. So many are shredded or shortened too much. Have not ordered scrubs since 2012. Approx. cost will be around $300

Volunteer Coordinator – Jen Tyson

  • No new news to report
  • Spirit Wear – Teresa Zencuch
  • Sweat pants cannot be ordered until Spring at this time.
  • Order minimum must be $20.
  • Need to work out better system to get orders and then distribute.

Miscellaneous – Mr. Specketer

  • Senior Night – Oct 28th
  • Marching Band awards banquet scheduled for Nov 14th.
  • Tri-M – in need of bylaws and better supervision. He has set up a schedule and re-written bylaws to help keep charter. Community service must be factored in. Public concerts should be done. He has set up a schedule of meetings.
  • Would like funds for Tri-M to run through Boosters instead of through the club.

Next meeting will only be an info meeting regarding Tiny Tots on Tuesday, November 15th @ 6:30 pm.
