This has been a hard newsletter to get out as I am having to start over from scratch. My home computer died this morning. Lost it all. Thank goodness for the Laptop. I was ready to Print and e-mail it out. Hope I can remember what all was in it. I have been keeping up with e-mails on both computers, so I still have all e-mails. The 1 thing that I had not printed out was the newsletter, so it will be just rebuilding the big computer. Hopefully when I get it up and running I’ll be able to salvage most of the info on it.

WINTER SOCIAL

Come join other Club Members at the Winter Social for Breakfast and lively “Miner Conversation” on March 12th. We meet at Johnny’s in Fife – 9:30am

______We Had the Christmas Party on the 11th of December 2010. As nasty as the weather was we had a real good turnout about 85 people came out. The club furnished Turkey and Ham the rest was Potluck. And as usual we ruined a perfectly Good appetite. All who were present had a good time. The silent auction brought in approx $400. Many items were purchased, for the new members the silent auction money is used to help pay the rent on our meeting hall.

______

December 18th was the breakfast at Johnnies in Fife. Following the breakfast was the Christmas family delivery. A young air force member and his young son. The club has been involved wit the single parent service member for four years now. We are really appreciated by the services for sponsoring a family each year. The first family mentioned to us this year was a family with five children. I did not think we could support that with the limited funds we had to work with. The family we had was very appreciative. Thanks to Bill & Kathy for their assistance in making the Holiday season better for the member and his son.

______

January started off a new year. May all of our pans turn yellow with that nasty Gold that we hunt for each year. We will just have to keep fighting the state for our rites to continue our quest. Who knows you might be the one to find the BIG one.

______

The board meeting was held on the 4th and the breakfast on the 8th with the club meeting on the 17th and on the 26th Bill W, Rich D, Jim C and myself were at the Cabelas booth at the Sportsman’s Show at the Fairgrounds for a couple of hours. We handed out bags, coupons, and Club membership applications.

______

February is the beginning of a busy time for the club. The first of 3 Gold shows, Cabelas outings and other outings. I still have a lot of open dates on the club calendar. If you have suggestions for some of these dates please let me know, all inputs will be considered. The board met on the 1st, breakfast on the 12th, club meeting on the 21st, and the Monroe gold show on the 26th & 27th. Setup on the 25th.

March will continue the quest toward the season opening with a busy month also. 1st will be the board meeting, breakfast on the 12th, Cabelas first outing will be 19 & 20 Setup on Friday afternoon. We will have our panning trailer and some equipment on display as well we will have some small equipment operating. We will have our usual place across from the front door. The club meeting on the21st. The GPAA Gold Show will be the 26th & 27th with setup on the 25th. To help with the GPAA setup in the morning you have to be a GPAA member. After the GPAA finishes setting up then we can setup out booth. So it will be a long busy day.

______

April board meeting on the 5th , 15th setup for the Cashmere Gold show, show on 16th & 17th , club meeting on the 18th . The 23rd will be a Salmon Creek outing. In the past this has been a popular outing. Patti Likes it. You may want to ask her why.

______

If you have an idea for a training program for the last hour of the club meeting See Doug Irish. He will consider all suggestions.

When the outings are setup they are setup as club outings. That means club participation not just the same few members all the time. I would like to see some new faces at the outings For instance Cabelas. Cabelas has been good to the club and we need to support these outings. These outings are keeping our faces in front of the public. This is helpful when we go and testify at the commission meetings. If we want to be able to continue mining we have to work as a team, this means support of the public. We need the publics support.

I have had reports of members moving large rocks on the Oregon claims and walking off and leaving them. Put the rocks back in the holes you dig. By not doing so you jeopardize our claims. And with the bills that Oregon are trying to pass we may not be able to afford to dredge there. $50 for resident and $2500 for non-resident. So please put the rocks back as close as you can to where they came from.

______

Things are heating up in Olympia. We have testified on 3 different bills. We have had meetings with numerous Senators and Representatives. Some do not like what is happening to us and a good number appear to be on our side.

Parks is planning to hold rule making in the near future on ocean beach mining. We will be involved in this process.
