Staff and Supervisors

The Supervisor Induction session for 2012 is on Friday the 24th of February at 3.30pm. All staff and supervisors are encouraged to attend as the session updates everyone on 2012 changes to HDR candidature and changes to HDR supervision introduced by RMIT School of Graduate Research (SGR) and RMIT Research and Innovation (R&I). The new HDR Student Induction session is scheduled for Wednesday, 14th of March and supervisors are welcome to join their new students between 12.30-1.30pm. Returning students are also encouraged to attend to have all their 2012 questions answered.

The Research office staff and I are in the process of organising an introduction to NVivo 9 session early in 2012. Louise and Anne would love to receive expressions of interest for such a session.

Supervisor and Registration Requirements

Staff are always asking about supervisor training and registration:

Robyn Barnacle has confirmed that supervisors can do the informal mode of the supervisor course. This is a Blackboard module that is self-paced and takes about 36 hours. The link is included here. http://www.rmit.edu.au/browse/Staff/Research/Supervising%20students/HDR%20Supervision%20course/

The course can be undertaken formally, for an accreditation, or informally, for supervisor registration purposes only. There is also flexibility in terms of when the course can be undertaken and delivery mode. It is offered during second semester each year through a combination of online and face-to-face delivery or entirely online, all year round, in self-paced mode. If you would like to undertake the course and receive an accreditation it is available in second semester each year as an elective in the GCTT&L http://www.rmit.edu.au/browse;ID=EPSGC020AUSBU . You can also do the course as a single course with RMIT Training

http://tiny.cc/lqh0t

If you are not seeking a formal accreditation then RMIT academics can complete the course informally. Successful completion of the course in this mode will be recognized for the purposes of supervisor registration http://www.rmit.edu.au/browse;ID=aq5z3m8k8a6wz and you will receive a certificate of completion from the SGR. Note that you will still be required to complete the assessment. There will be no cost associated with the course if you choose this option. If you would like to do the course in this mode please contact the course coordinator Dr Robyn Barnacle on 9925 8303 or by email

“I just would like to say hello for you and the school staffs (sic). I attached some photos of my son, Abdullah. He is almost one year old. I also would like to tell you that I moved from the Saudi Ministry of Education to Salman University which was a big campus of King Saud University but now it is separated as a new university. I am working as assistant professor at the Faculty of Education”.
