6th Grade Language Arts Syllabus
Clermont Middle School
Welcome to our 6th Grade Language Arts class! During this school year, you will be working to master Florida’s learning standards in English/Language Arts. Our textbook is The Florida Collections of Literature as well as a few other resources that include stories, writing, and grammar. We will be hitting reading, writing, vocabulary and spelling pretty hard as we move into our curriculum and master all that we need to in order to be successful readers and writers. During the year, you will be writing fabulous essays with catchy hooks, strong support, and thought-provoking conclusions. We have much to accomplish, so get yourself ready!

Parents:
· Be sure to check your child’s agenda for homework, assignments, and for teacher communication. Classwork/Homework are written in the agendas. Also, sign your child’s agenda each Friday.
· If your child is absent, it is his/her responsibility to make up the classwork and homework that was assigned. A “While You Were Out” Chart is located at the front of the class. Your child will need to get the materials that were missed. This will be your child’s responsibility. Students have five days after the absence to turn their work in. Again, this will be your child’s responsibility.
Student’s responsibility:
· Come to class prepared; have your school binder and supplies.
· Bring your personal reading book to class EVERYDAY.
· Missing assignments. See me or email me at
