Incoming 9th grade Orientation at Shaker Heights High School

All 8th grade students and families are invited to attend an orientation and information session at Shaker Heights High School on Tuesday, February 2 at 7:00 PM.
8th Grade Trip to Washington DC
Tuesday-Thursday, May 17-19
All 8th grade students are invited to attend our annual trip to Washington DC from Tuesday May 17-Thursday, May 19. If you have not yet signed up already, you may still register, but please note that space is limited! Registration information can be found on the Shaker Heights Middle School website. For scholarship information, please see your guidance counselor.
Eligibility: Students with 5+ behavior referrals, or who have been suspended or who have 5+ unexcused tardies or absences during the second semester may not be able to attend.
8th Grade Academic Awards
Wednesday, May 25, 7:00 p.m.
8th grade students may receive a wide range of academic awards in all subject areas. Award recipients and their families will receive invitations to the awards ceremony in advance.
Eighth Grade Social
Friday, May 13, 7:00 PM
The End-of-the-Year 8thGrade Social will be held on Friday, May 20from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Middle School West Gym. The event is free for 8th grade SMS students only. Dress/casual and Sunday dress is appropriate.
Eligibility: Students with 5+ behavior referrals, or who have been suspended or who have 5+ unexcused tardies or absences during the second semester may not be able to attend.
Recognition Day Ceremony Rehearsal
Wednesday, June 1, 8:00 AM
All 8th grade students will participate in a Recognition Day Ceremony Rehearsal on Wednesday, June 1. Following the rehearsal, 8th grade students will leave for their trip to Cedar Point.
Eligibility: Students who are in danger of being retained are not eligible to participate in this rehearsal.
Trip to Cedar Point
Wednesday, June 1, 9:30 AM-8:30 PM
All 8th grade students are invited to attend our end-of-year trip to Cedar Point. The cost for last year’s trip was $40. Additional payment information will be made available in the next few months.
Eligibility: Students with 5+ behavior referrals, or who have been suspended or who have 5+ unexcused tardies or absences during the second semester may not be able to attend. Students with outstanding Student Activity fees will be unable to attend nor will students who are in danger of being retained.
