Board and Committee Structure
Rotary Club Committees:
A Rotary Club can provide service to its community, retain members, and develop leaders for the club, district, and Rotary International only when its internal operations are well organized and efficient.
Club Committees are charged with carrying out the club’s annual and long range goals. Each Rotary Club has different needs and establishes committees to suit those needs.
The Rotary Club of Etowah has reviewed the historical basis for committees and club organization from Rotary International and the Rotary Manual of Procedure. Based on the best practices of effective Rotary clubs, the Rotary Club of Etowah Board of Directors will consist of:

The Directors will be charged as noted below:
Service Projects Director – plans and conducts projects that address the needs of our community and communities in other countries, and coordinate funding activities for those projects. Service areas include local community, international, vocational, and youth.
Club Administration I and Membership Director – create and implement a comprehensive plan for finding and retaining club members. Club Administration I and Membership functions include attendance, fellowship, Rotary Information, District Conference and Family of Rotary.
Club Administration II and Public Relations – Develop and implement plans to provide information about Rotary, and promote club projects and activities. Functions include bulletin, scrapbook, photography, programs, website, history, and sergeant at arms.
Rotary Foundation Director – coordinates club support for Rotary Foundation and the club’s activities in areas the Foundation promotes and sponsors.
The following items are the responsibility of the Director and that group. If needed, a committee chair can be appointed to add additional emphasis, and committee members can be added as needed. If no committee is needed/selected, then the Directors will oversee the function.
Service Projects

Rotary Foundation Director – Stewart Manley
The Rotary Foundation Director and group provide members with information about the Rotary Foundation, its goals and purpose, and information about Foundation activities. They will also manage the progress of members in various Foundation charitable giving programs, including Paul Harris Awards and Fellowships.
Committee responsibilities as part of the Rotary Foundation group are:
Foundation giving – Encourage giving to the Rotary Foundation throughout the year.Giving Progress – monitor and manage progress of club members in Foundation giving.
Foundation Recognition – Provide appropriate recognition as various levels of giving are completed by club members.
Grants – Assist with application preparation and submittals for the District Simplified grant and other grants that may be possible for the club to be awarded.
Foundation Programs – Keep the club abreast of all Rotary Foundation programs including: Grants for University Teachers, Ambassadorial Scholarships, and Rotary Youth Exchange.
Grants for University Teachers - Identify and prepare teacher candidates to apply for a grant to teach for one year in another country.
Ambassadorial Scholars – Identify and prepare candidates for this Rotary Foundation Scholarship Program, which funds educational opportunities for college-age students.
Rotary Youth Exchange – Coordinate our club’s involvement in Rotary Foundations’ short and long term International exchanges for high school students. Could involve one or two in-bound and one or two out-bound students to be hosted. / Committee Chair
