The learner can:
1. Be able to apply quarry specific health, safety and environmental aspects. / 1.1  Demonstrate the procedures for ensuring competence of all individuals in own area of responsibility.
1.2  Apply organisational procedures for inducting and monitoring new/unfamiliar staff or contractors.
1.3  Undertake all of the following:
·  monitor the working of the quarry;
·  monitor the operation of excavations and tips/stockpiles with respect to the rules;
·  monitor traffic management;
·  monitor the disposal of quarrying process waste.
1.4  Demonstrate the inspection of the areas of the quarry under own responsibility.
1.5  Contribute to the improvement of the quarry/quarry operations based on recommendations from a quarry inspection.
1.6  Demonstrate the procedures in place to reduce the risks associated with quarrying.
1.7  Conduct hazard identification and risk assessment associated with quarrying operations.
1.8  Conduct aspect identification and impact assessment associated with quarrying operations.
1.9  Identify the features illustrated on the quarry plan.
