26th Annual Psychiatric Nursing Symposium
Call for Poster Presentations
You are invited to submit a proposal for a Poster Presentation at the March 30, 2012 UTA Psychiatric Nursing Symposium. The Planning Committee welcomes abstracts from practitioners, educators, staff nurses, researchers, students, and managers in all psychiatric care settings on new, innovative, and practical approaches that can be used in a variety of psychiatric care settings.
The Posters will be selected based on the following criteria:
· Relevance of topic to current challenges in psychiatric nursing.
· Clarity of description of the topic, content and presentation materials.
· Feasibility of application to a variety of care settings.
· Absence of commercial content.
All reviews will be conducted in a blinded process to ensure there is no bias.
It is recommended that the Poster presentations focus on one of the following –these are meant as a guide only and are not exclusive:
· Impact of health care reform policy on Psychiatric Nursing
· Patient safety and quality
· Care delivery, Evidence-based practice
· Research – pilot project, completed or ongoing
· Leadership for the future in Psychiatric Nursing
· Leveraging technology
All proposals for Poster presentations must include:
· Description of poster not to exceed 250 words. (please see suggested outline)
** 12 pt font Times Roman, double spaced.
· Names of authors, investigators, key persons involved; need to identify the lead person, with email and mailing address. (Please place this information on a cover sheet with the title of the poster)
· Submitted electronically to , no later than January 10th.
Poster proposal authors will be notified of acceptance by February 15th.
Posters must be able to be displayed on a board (will be provided with pins). All Poster presenters must be registered for the conference (there is a $25 discount for poster presenters), and must be at their posters during the Continental Breakfast, breaks, and the last portion of the lunch time.
Suggested Outline for Abstract:
· Cover Sheet with Title, names, credentials, and contact information. (may be more than one presenter; lead presenter must be clearly identified.)
· Background, problem, or issue (including significance to psychiatric nursing).
· Purpose of the study or work that is described.
· Brief description of the study/research process, practice or protocol.
· Findings, outcomes.
· Future implications (psychiatric nursing practice, policy, education).
