Dear Parents,
As you all know our first competition of the season is only a few weeks away!
Competitions:
Believe National Dance Competition will be the weekend of March 23rd - 25th at the Investors Bank Performing Arts Center, 520 HurffvilleCrosskeys Road, Sewell, NJ.
Starpower National Talent Competition will be the weekend of April 13th – 15th at the Stafford Township Arts Center, 1000 McKinley Ave, Manahawkin, NJ.
Below is all the information you will need in regards to competition (costumes, hair, make-up, etc.)
Costumes:
Costumes are being handed out the week of February 19th. Some pieces may need to be purchased on your own (explained below). Please get these items sooner rather than later and then keep everything together in a safe place. If you wait too late to find something or lose a costume piece right before competition, there is little the studio can do to help out.
All costumes should also be hung up on a hanger. There should be no wrinkles in the costume! The tulle on the jazz skirts should be pulled so it is not crinkled underneath.Please write your child's initials on the costume. Not the tags! Tags should be removed.
Semi – Novice Team Costumes:
HIP HOP
3 Piece Costume / Handed out / Black Leggings, White Tank Top and Purple Jacket. No underwear. NOTHING SHOULD BE SHOWING!White Bandana / Handed out / This will be tied around the head like a headband
Earrings / Must be purchased / Please go to – Item # RU048, 15mm Earrings. Cost is $17.28 plus shipping. They also have a clip-on version if your child does not have their ears pierced. That item # is RU058 and cost is $17.61.
Hip Hop Shoes / Everyone should have these / Black NO SHOW socks must be worn
Jazz
One Piece Costume w/ Gloves / Handed out / Nothing should be worn underneath. No underwear or bras! No tights underneath!Pink Bow / Handed out / Came with jazz costume. Bow will need to be attached to bun.

Tap

Tap Shoes / Everyone should have these / Black high socks (calf or knee length, NOT ANKLE)must be worn
**Team jackets must be worn at all times while the girls are not dancing and also during the awards ceremony**
Hair:
Hair will need to be in a high bun with a braid wrapped around the bun on the top of your child’s head (not at the crown, must be on top). To achieve this look you will need to purchase one of the flowing:
- A bun donut (large)and/or
- A bun maker accessory
Both of these items can be purchased at Claire’s or hair supply store. In addition, here are a few other reminders regarding competition hair:
- Hair must be slicked backed and smooth – please use hairspray and gel.
- Hair must be secure – use lots or bobby pins.
- Secure your child’s bow and bandanna with bobby pins as well.
Remember to make sure everything is secure in your child’s hair!
Make-up:
Every girl must wear the following:
- Foundation
- Pink Blush
- False eyelashes – long and full. No Exceptions
- Eye shadow – Smokey eye. Please no blues or pinks.
- Red Lipstick
