BOARD OF SELECTMEN REGULAR MEETING, TUESDAY, MAY 5, 2015, 7:00PM IN THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING
Present: R. Piper and R. Veach. Also present 1 audience member.
1. CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Piper called the meeting to order at 7:01pm.
2. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION ON AGENDA ITEMS
None
3. MATTRESS RECYCLING PROGRAM
Mr. Piper reported that starting 5-1-15 Canterbury is involved in a mattress recycling program. There is a special container at the transfer station which will keep mattresses out of our bulky waste will same the Town money. The mattress organization takes the old mattresses away. Mr. Piper reported we already have about a dozen in the container.
4. MANSHIP PARK UPDATE
The walking track and the children play area is open, but all of the playing fields are still closed.
5. CT FIRE DANGER – NO BURNING PERMITS
Canterbury is in a fire danger area. The Fire Marshall is not issuing any burning permits.
6. MAY 15TH – TOWN MEETING FOR BUDGET
Our annual meeting will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 in the Community Room.
7. SET DATE FOR BUDGET REFERENDUM
A motion was made by Mr. Veach and seconded by Mr. Piper to schedule the budget referendum on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 6am to 8pm. Vote: Mr. Veach, yes, Mr. Piper, yes. Motion carried.
8. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
J. Brustolon – PRE money, Yaworski landfill
R. Veach – Transfer Station Operations Committee
9. SELECTMEN’S REPORT
Mr. Piper is looking into the possibility of purchasing two video surveillance cameras. One in the lobby area and one facing the parking lot. He will talk with one or two other companies and get proposals.
10. ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Mr. Veach and seconded by Mr. Piper to adjourn the meeting at 7:20pm. Vote: Mr. Veach, yes, Mr. Piper, yes. Motion carried.
