  • Dr. Arwal established the first Community Midwifery Training (CMT) program in Shinwar Health Cluster, Eastern Province of Nangarhar in 1999 and established the Community Based Health Care Department within MoPH in 2005. So far MoPH was able to establish around 20 more CMT in different provinces of Afghanistan.

Main achievements in CBHC Afghanistan:

  • CBHC Afghanistan is recognized Internationally after Dr. Arwal’s presentation in APHA/CBPHC Annual Conference in USA date: November 2009
  • On December 2009, Dr. Arwal has participated in SAARC Special community Based Service Development seminar and Dr. Arwal was elected during this Seminar as leader of the team in South Korea
  • Dr. Arwal was accepted as International member of USA/CBPHC working group.
  • Dr. Arwal has established community based development coordination committee among ministries (MoPH, MoE, MoWA, and MRRD) and Dr. Arwal have the leading role of this committee
  • Dr. Arwal and his CBHC team was able to conduct first Shura’s Coordination Conference in MoPH dated October 2009, four Ministries (Minister of Public Health, Two Deputy ministers of Public Health, some GDs of MoPH, Acting Minister of Rural Rehabilitation, Deputy Minister of Education, Deputy Minister of women Offers) 80 head of all ministries relative Community committees (Shuras) and media representatives were present.
  • CBHC Success story was published / Ministry of Finance as successful program of the MoPH.
  • Dr. Arwal by supporting of MoPH Leadership was able to recognize one day as a national CHW’s day on 14th of Quas which was recommended by H.E President Office.
  • Dr. Arwal and his team were able to develop a standard Policy and Strategy for CBHC Program.
