OBEDIENCE CLASS DEFINITIONS

BEGINNERS OBEDIENCE is confined to dogs and handlers which have not won three or more first prizes under Irish Kennel Club rules or any other recognised Kennel Club test.

NOVICE OBEDIENCE is confined to dogs which have not been awarded (a) a Green Star in any Obedience test or (b) four first prizes or more in any Obedience test except Beginners.

GRADUATE OBEDIENCE is confined to dogs which have not been awarded (a) a Green Star in any Obedience test or (b) four first prizes or more in any Obedience test except Beginners and/or Novice.

LIMIT OBEDIENCE is confined to dogs which have not been awarded (a) a Green Star in any Obedience test or (b) four first prizes or more in any Obedience test except Beginners and/or Novice and/or Graduate.

OPEN OBEDIENCE is open to all.

AGILITY CLASS DEFINITIONS

PREMIER AGILITY Open to dogs who have won out of Novice. Max. height of hurdles 650mm (2ft 1.6ins)

PREMIER SMALL DOGS As per Small Dog Agility ( Dogs entered in this class may not enter Introductory)

OPEN AGILITY Open to all dogs. Max. height of hurdles 650mm (2ft 1.6ins); max .long jump 1.524m (5ft).

NOVICE AGILITY Confined to dogs who have not won five first prizes in Novice Agility or two first prizes in Open Agility. Max. height of hurdles 650mm (2ft 1.6ins); max .long jump 914.4mm (3ft6 ins).

SMALL DOG AGILITY Confined to dogs ubder 15” at shoulder. Max. height of hurdles 381 mm (1ft 3ins); max. long jump 762mm (2ft 6ins). (Small dog competitors may only enter Small Dogs, Introductory and Preliminary).

PRELIMINARY AGILITYconfined to (a) dogs which have not won five first prizes in this class (b) to dogs which have not won three first prizes in Novice Agility and (c) to dogs which have not won two first prizes in Open Agility. Max. height hurdles 610mm (2ft); max. long jump 762mm (2ft 6 ins).

INTRODUCTORY For owners, handlers or dogs who have not gained more than four first places in any Agility and or Jumping Class at a licensed Agility Test excluding Small Dogs. Max. height of hurdles 472mm (18ins) and the maximum length of a long jump shall be 762mm (2ft 6ins).

SMALL DOG JUMPING Dogs under 15” at shoulder. (Dogs entered in this class may not enter Open Jumping.)

OPEN JUMPING Open to all dogs. Max. height of hurdles 650mm (2ft 1.6ins) Tunnels and Weaving Poles may be used in this class at the Judge’s discretion.

The Committee reserves the right to appoint a substitute judge if circumstances prevent an appointed judge from fulfilling the appointment.

EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE

  1. The committee reserves the right to refuse any entry.
  2. Dogs under six months of age are not eligible to enter obedience tests and dogs under 18 months of age are not eligible to enter agility tests.
  3. All wins prior to the day specified for the closing of entries shall be taken into account when entering any class.
  4. It is the competitors responsibility to be available for their class.
  5. No bitch in season to be present at show.
  6. Mating of bitches within the precincts of show grounds is forbidden.
  7. Dogs must be kept under proper control at all times.
  8. Collars are not to be worn while competing in agility tests.
  9. Food shall not be given or carried in the ring.
  10. No practising with dogs in competition area prior to tests will be allowed. To do so merits disqualification.
  11. Handlers will be permitted to walk the agility courses before judging commences.
  12. Any article carried by the handler is subject to the judges discretion, but must be indicated to the judge prior to the commencement of test.
  13. The show will be held under the Licence, Rules and Regulations of the Irish Kennel Club Limited. All dogs entered for competition must be registered or transferred at the Irish Kennel Club Limited.
  14. All competitors must show respect for the judge. Training rounds will only be allowed if prior permission has been given by the judge.
