  1. Can you tell us about your work history, including your certifications and why you feel you would be the best candidate for the Assistant Principal position here at the middle school? Please also reference if you are currently under contract with your current position.
  1. Much of the Middle School AP position involves working with the Special Services department and our students with special needs. Tell us your experience working with IEP and 504 students and your familiarity working with and/or coordinating I&RS committees.
  1. A huge part of the AP position also deals with discipline. That includes investigating HIB cases, following up on conduct reports and communicating the results of those investigations to parents. Give us an example of a difficult discipline case you encounteredand walk us through how you worked to resolve the issue.
  1. Working in collaboration with our parents is an integral part of the success of the middle school. Tell us how you plan to introduce yourself to the Holmdel community and what you will do to support the goals and objectives of our various parent groups.
  1. Holmdel is an active school district with a variety of different class trips, activities, fundraisers and events that go on all year long. One important class trip is our annual three-day class trip to Washington DC. Tell us how you will support this and the many other afterschool events and activities that go on in Holmdel. Please be specific as to your past experience with any activities of this type.
  1. How do you encourage and support technology utilization in the school? How do you use it in your role as an administrator?
  1. As you are aware, New Jersey no longer administers the NJASK test to students and now utilizes the PARCC assessments as a means of measuring student growth. Tell us what you know about the PARCC Assessments, the new student growth model, and how you will ensure that the rigor of our classroom assessments is in alignment with those of the PARCC tests.
  1. For teacher observations, Holmdel utilizes the Danielson observation model. Please tell us what you know about the Danielson observation model, the evidence you would consider to be Highly Effective, and how you plan to use the observation model as a means of promoting teacher growth.
  1. What do you feel are the major issues that affect middle-school adolescents? Have you developed any programs or been involved with any that address the issues that you identified?
  1. How do you involve school faculty, staff, parents, students, and others in decisions and processes in areas of your responsibility? How do you build collaborative relationships?
