Forecast from noaa.gov:

Friday night low of –7F

Saturday high of 16F, with that high coming at 3 PM.

Glide:

Start with a layer of SkiGo LF Graphite or Rex RCF Graphite then scrape and brush. Although there are people who do not believe in graphite out there, the reality is that it works as a base hardener and first layer for durability. Particularly in this cold weather or in dirty snow it makes a huge difference. It will make your skis better in this condition, and that is why it is SkiGo’s #1 selling product worldwide.

Next use a layer of SkiGo HF Green, Holmenkol Matrix Green, Start LF or HF Green or Swix HF4x. It also might be a good idea to mix these waxes 50:50 with SkiGo C380 synthetic Cold powder.

IF you are using a topcoat then the safest option is SkiGo C110 solid or SkiGo C22 solid or Rex TK-72. These can be rubbed on and then hand corked or roto fleeced in and then brushed out.

For kick I would use a real thin layer of Toko Green binder or Vauhti Super Base ironed in. Let it harden and then hand cork it a bit to get a surface to work with. Waxes to look at on top of this would be: SkiGo HF violet, Guru Green, Start Synthetic Green, Swix V20 Green, Swix VR30, Start RF Blue and IF it gets wet and glazes Start Oslo Green.

BNS East in Portland will offer a full glide prep on skate skis for $65 to save you having to buy all the waxes on your own. For classic skis we will offer a full glide prep for $45 also. This will include a LF Graphite layer, HF layer, and a pure fluoro. Skis will be turned around in one day with latest pickup of 5 PM Friday. Just email, call or stop in to work out the details.
