DURATION OF CONTRACT: Permanent (6 month probation period)

JOB DESCRIPTION

This job description gives an outline of the main duties of this post. It does not form part of the contract of employment and may be changed from time to time in consultation with the post-holder.

Aims

  • To implement the information plan agreed by Carers UK’s Information Group through development of content and resources
  • To ensure carers shape our information resources

Duties

  1. To produce and write our information resources.
  2. To assist in the development and production of a range of information tools.
  3. To identify gaps in our current information resources/tools and work with the Communications Manager and Information Group to produce new resources.
  4. To work collaboratively with colleagues across the Advice and Information, Communications, Nation andBusiness Development and Innovationteams to ensure our information meets the needs of carers across all parts of the UK.
  5. To measure impact of our information resources by gathering key statistics and updating the Information Group on a quarterly basis.
  6. To recruit and support a carer panel to help shape and test our information resources.
  7. To work with potential external partners and suppliers to produce information resources and tools.
  8. To support the work of the Employers for Carers Communications Manager.

General

  1. To carry out administrative duties to support your role and contribute to the smooth running of the office and work of the team.
  2. To attend staff meetings and Carers UK staff conferences in London as directed.
  3. To work at all times in accordance with all policies and procedures of Carers UK including the Equal Opportunities and Confidentiality Policies.
  4. To reasonably undertake any other duties as required by the line manager that are commensurate with the level of the post.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  1. Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in both written and verbal formats.
  2. Excellent written skills.
  3. Ability to research complex issues and translate these into information resources and tools for a carer audience.
  4. Excellent organisational skills with a problem solving approach and the ability to respond to changing work demands within agreed timescales ensuring deadlines are met.
  5. Confidence to use own discretion/initiative when signposting and to know when to escalate issues to manager.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively with staff and external partners and harness resources across Carers UK.
  7. Good interpersonal skills to engage with and support carers who will help to inform the content of our resources.
  8. Excellent attention to detail and methodical approach to tasks.
  9. Empathy and understanding of the issues faced when caring for a relative or friend
  10. Understanding of, and commitment to, implementing Carers UK’s Equal Opportunities policy in all areas of work.
  11. Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and to respect and implement data protection rules.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

1.Understanding of how websites and online tools work and the ways people interact with them.

2.Excellent IT skills, competent with working with a range of software including Microsoft Office and image editing (Photoshop or equivalent).
