Dear Parent(s) or Guardian(s),

Hello, my name is Chandra Elder, and it is my pleasure to inform you that I will be working with your student this year in Calculus. I am very excited to be given the opportunity to further your child’s education by helping them extend their mathematical knowledge through learning the concepts of calculus.

I am a graduate of Watkins Memorial High School, and I have been glad to return to WMHS. I have Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Education degree, both from The Ohio State University.

It is required for students to have a Texas Instrument 83 or higher for this course (TI-83, TI-84, or TI-nspire). The calculator will be necessary for students to complete tests and certain in-class and homework problems.

I have sent a course description home with your child. Please read and sign it so that you understand the structure of the class and how it will be graded. There will be instruction delivered in class and instruction delivered via a video online. If you do not have access to the internet at home, please let me know. Students will have access at school if they do not at home.

Through a 3rd party website, I have the ability to send you and/or your student a text message regarding important things coming up in class such as tests, reminders, test retakes, etc. I have no access to your personal phone numbers and you do not have access to mine. If you would like to sign up for this service, please email me at so that I can give you your students class code.

If your student ever needs extra help, I am always here before and after school and during lunch periods in the math lab. You and your student can also access the course website at http://www.swl.k12.oh.us/ChandraMElder.aspx where you will find links to websites used in class and copies of notes and handouts. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact me. I can be reached by calling the high school at 740-927-3846 or by e-mailing me at . I look forward to working with your student this year!

Sincerely,

Chandra Elder
