“What Is the Bible?”

2 Peter 1:16-21

Non-Christian sources show, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that:

  1. Jesus was truly a historical person.
  2. Jesus lived in Palestine in the first century of our era.
  3. The Jewish leadership was involved in the death of Jesus.
  4. Jesus was crucified by the Romans under the governorship of Pontius Pilate.
  5. Jesus’ ministry was associated with wonders/sorcery.

  1. Because Peter was an ______, he could testify beyond any doubt that Jesus truly was the Son of God (vs. 16-18).

Its teachings must be applied.

Colossians 1:28-29

28We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. 29For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.

John 20:30-31

30Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book;31but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.

John 21:24

This is the disciple who is testifying to these things and wrote these things, and we know that his testimony is true.

Luke 1:1-4

Psalm 119:160

The sum of Your word is truth,And every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting.

Matthew 5:17

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;

Acts 28:25-27 (Isaiah 6:9-10)
