1.4SUBMITTALS

  1. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
  1. Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on the product to be used, including:
  2. Preparation instructions and recommendations.
  3. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
  4. Installation methods.
  1. Shop Drawings: Show dimensions and locations of all items including attachment to the supporting structure required.

1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE

  1. Low Rise lift shall comply with ASME A18.1 standard for lifts in public installations.
  1. Installer Qualifications: A company regularly engaged in the business of manufacturing, installing and servicing courtroom lifts of the type specified, and shall have a history of successful installations acceptable to the Architect.

1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

  1. Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.

1.7PROJECT CONDITIONS

  1. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

1.8Warranty

A. Limited 1-year warranty parts only.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1MANUFACTURERS

  1. Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01600.

2.2LOW RISE LIFTS

  1. Low rise lifts shall be “Low Rise Lift Model VML", Lift shall comply with ASME A18.1 standard for lifts in public installations. Low Rise lift shall be ADA compliant.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Platforms are sized for the application. Insert size required. Contact manufacturer for unusual or oversized installation requirements.

  1. Platform Size: Platform shall be 36 inches wide x 53.64 inches long.
  2. Platform Side Guards: 36.88 inches in height.
  3. Rated Load: Minimum rated capacity shall be 750 lbs (340 kg) with a weight safety factor of not less than 5 based upon the rated load.
  4. Speed: Vertical platform speed shall be nominally 10 feet (3.05 m) per minute.
  5. Maximum travel is 24 inches (610 mm).
  6. All mechanical and electrical mechanisms shall be totally enclosed and protected from the elements.
  7. Lift mechanism to be all electric, no hydraulics permitted.
  1. Power requirements: Dedicated breaker protected service 115 VAC, 3-wire, 15 amp, single phase service supplied from building power source. To be supplied by Owner or Owner’s Representatives.
  1. Number of stops required: Two.
  1. Configuration: Straight through platform, no pit required.
  1. Top Landing Platform Gate: Power operated; electromechanically interlocked allowing platform ascent/decent only when gate is closed and locked.
  1. Bottom Landing Barriers: Power operated barrier arm and roll stop; electromechanically interlocked to allow platform ascent/decent only when barriers are in the guarded position.
  1. Underside of platform is enclosed by metal roll-up bellows.
  1. Drive System: Two electric motor driven acme screw jacks electrically synchronized.
  1. Battery Back-Up: Included.
  1. Construction: Low Rise lift shall be constructed of welded or bolted, steel or aluminum structural frame.
  1. Operation: Low Rise lift shall be operated by low voltage (24 VDC), constant pressure control switches, designed so that it can be easily operated by persons with limited dexterity.
  1. Controls: Low Rise lift shall be equipped with controls at the top, bottom landing and platform. A security key switch is provided to control unauthorized use.
  2. Emergency Stop Button: Low Rise lift shall have an emergency stop button on each control panel that also activates an audible alarm.
  3. Emergency Alarm System: Included.
  4. Limit Switches: Low Rise lift shall be equipped with redundant upper and lower final limit switches.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Finishes are usually coordinated with the interior finishes of the courtroom that are provided by others. Coordinate finish selections with other specifications sections as required.

  1. Finish: All surfaces shall be provided with a corrosion resistant coating.
  1. Non-Exposed Metal Surfaces: All non-exposed surfaces shall be powder coated black.
  2. Exposed Surfaces: Powder coated textured brown. Optional surfaces finishes are available at an additional cost.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1EXAMINATION

  1. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
  2. Examine supporting and surrounding construction, connection points to electrical services and conduit runs, and other related work.
  3. Confirm electrical power is installed, is of correct characteristics, and terminals are correctly located.
  4. Do not start work until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected.

3.2PREPARATION

  1. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
  1. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the project conditions.

3.3INSTALLATION

  1. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and in strict accordance with the approved shop drawings and all pertinent regulations and codes.
  2. Set unit in place. Anchor to floor. Install components. Connect electrical. Operate to check for proper functionality.

3.4FIELD TESTING

  1. Upon completion of the installation and as a condition of its acceptance, provide all necessary equipment and personnel to perform all tests required. Secure all required approvals from agencies having jurisdiction.

3.5PROTECTION

  1. Protect installed products until completion of project.
  1. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
