NOTICE TO PROPOSERS - GENERAL INFORMATION

The SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT DISTRICT (“District”), 300 Lakeside Drive, Oakland, California, is advertising for proposals for On-Call General Engineering Services for BART Projects, Request for Proposals (RFP) No. 6M8067, on or about December 4, 2013, with proposals due by 2:00 PM local time, Tuesday, January 21, 2014.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED

The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (“BART" or “District”) is soliciting the services of a consulting firm or joint venture to provide General Engineering Services for BART Projects on an on-call basis. The selected consultant shall assist and advise the District in engineering and procurement activities. Areas in which the consultant may provide services include facilities, systems, transit power, controls and communications, rail vehicle support, standard BART and eBART DMU equipment. General task areas consist of project development, engineering and design services, advanced technologies, procurement services, emergency response, design support during construction, project administration, and agreement administration.

The District intends to award four (4) Agreements with each Agreement having a term of five (5) years. A Pre-Proposal Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2013. The Pre-Proposal Meeting will convene at 10:00 AM local time in the Garden Room at the Kaiser Center Mall, 344 – 20th Street, Third Floor, Oakland, California 94612. At the Pre-Proposal Meeting the District’s DBE Program will be explained. Prospective Proposers are requested to make every effort to attend this only scheduled Pre-Proposal Meeting and to confirm their attendance by contacting the District’s Principal Contract Specialist, Ms. Irene G. Gray, telephone (510) 464-6390, or E-mail prior to the date of the Pre-Proposal Meeting. Networking Session: Immediately following the Pre-Proposal Meeting, the District’s Office of Civil Rights will conduct a networking session for subcontractors to meet the prime contractors for DBE participation opportunities.
