Professional Requirements:
Teachers
- Head Start Teachers - 24 hours of continuing professional education on a yearly basis.
- Pre-K Teachers – 24 hours of continuing professional education on a yearly basis in addition to maintaining active certification: 36 Act 48 hours needed on a yearly basis or 6 college credits/180 training hours every five years accepted by the PA Department of Education.
Teacher Aides – 24 hours of continuing professional education on a yearly basis
Family Partners - 20 hours of required training per year for PAT recertification. Training in child development and early childhood education, principles of child health, safety and nutrition, adult learning principles, family dynamics, communicating and motivating adults, community resources, and linking families with appropriate resources.
Drivers – Behind the wheel training (how to operate vehicle safely, run fixed route, loading and unloading children, operate special equip, handle emergency situations, conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on vehicle and determine what records are necessary).
