Purpose / This unit standard is for people who intend to operate as a residential property letting agent in the real estate industry. People credited with this unit standard are able to:
–compare different types of residential property rentals; and
–explain the process for variations and renewals of residential property tenancy agreements.

Industry practice refers to activities of experienced, competent property management personnel which are in accordance with the Code of Practice and the Residential Tenancies Act 1986.

Outcome 1
Compare different types of residential property rentals.
Evidence requirements
1.1Rentals are compared in accordance with the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 and with reference to the forms used for the tenancy agreements.
Rangerentals – fixed-term, short fixed-term, periodic, boarding house.
1.2The features of tenancy agreements for short-stay holiday accommodation are outlined in accordance with industry practice.
Outcome 2
Explain the process for variations and renewals of residential property tenancy agreements.
Evidence requirements
2.1Processes for variation and renewal of tenancy agreements are explained in accordance with the Residential Tenancies Act 1986.
