FAQ
What is the time commitment?
ASTS Tutoring sessions are appointment-based, with typically 3-4 one-hour sessions per week per course. Tutors arenotexpected to attend the course lecture, but rather are paid one hour for week for preparation (e.g., review lecture notes, contact instructors/TAs for curriculum updates, and coordinate sessions with students). The total time commitment for a tutor covering 2-3 courses will likely range from 5-10 hours/week. (Preference will be given to tutors who are able to cover a minimum of two courses.) Your weekly time commitment may vary according to demand (e.g., requests peak around midterms and continue consistently throughout the remainder of the semester).
How are tutors compensated?
Tutors are paid anywhere from $8.50-9.25/hr, dependent upon classification and prior tutoring experience with AAP. Tutors are compensated for mandatory bi-weekly staff meetings and for weekly preparation per course to review lecture notes, contact instructors/TAs for curriculum updates, and coordinate sessions with students. Alternatively, you may opt to tutor for academic credit for EDUC 388D.
