TOLEDO HARBOR LIGHT 102nd YEAR ANNIVERSARY FESTIVAL
July 8th & 9t, 2006 Maumee Bay State Park

The Toledo Harbor Light House is 102 years old this year. We need your help to preserve and to restore the Toledo Harbor Light & to allow public access. THLPS is working through the application process to own the lighthouse. The architectural firm of Duket Porter has been hired for plans and specifications, oversight and fund raising.
The Toledo Lighthouse is: the gateway from Lake Erie thru Maumee Bay to the Maumee River; a unique Romanesque architectural lighthouse design with the original roof built like a boat hull upside down and rounded; buff brick, three stories, parapet, cellar for a total of 4,000 square feet; home to the phantom known as Sarah in the second story window.
The main attractions at this year’s 102nd year festival are: Great Lakes Singer and Songwriter Lee Murkle and Surfin/Beachboys music by the Bonker’s plus Buffet music by McCarthy, Keeper’s tales, Clam Chowder Tatse Contest, and a magician. Businesses and families will compete in a Lighthouse Sand sculpting contest on the inland beach. The festival features nautical arts and crafts, tours around the light, Keepers Tales, food, children’s activities and more. The festival will be marketed in newspapers & television event sections, yacht clubs, and lighthouse publications. All festival exhibits and functions are carefully screened to maintain festival integrity and quality.
All proceeds, net of festival costs, go to historic preservation and restoration of the lighthouse. The Society is a nonprofit 501c3 tax exempt organization headquartered at Maumee Bay State Park’s Lodge.
