Banjo Paterson Australian Poetry Competition 2015

For individual and group performance of original poetry of any style and with an Australian theme

An event of the 2015 Banjo Paterson Australian Poetry Festival

Performance and judging will be on Monday 16 February 2015 in the Canobolas Hotel Ballroom, Orange NSW between 2 pm and 6 pm. Actual performance times will be advised when entries are collated.

Classes:

  1. Open – for any individual contestants
  2. Novice – for individual contestants who have not won first prize in a poetry recital competition
  3. Junior – for individual contestants 16 years of age or under on competition day
  4. Groups – for groups of 2 or more contestants performing together

Prizes:

Class 1 Open winner $600

Class 2 Novice winner $300

Class 3 Junior winner $300

Class 4 Group winner $300

Conditions of Entry:

  1. Poems are to be original works
  2. Poems and performances are not to be offensive and must be suitable for family entertainment
  3. Poems are to be performed by the poet, in person, at the event.
  4. The performance may include reading, singing, chanting, rapping, acting and/or dancing
  5. The maximum presentation time is 4 minutes per entry
  6. Entrants are to provide their own equipment and props. A microphone and speaker will be available on stage
  7. Judging will be based on entertainment value, originality and innovation
  8. The maximum number of entries accepted in each Class is 10, on a first in basis
  9. Novice Contestants may also enter the Open Class
  10. Junior Contestants may also enter the Open Class
  11. Individuals in a Group performance may also enter other relevant Classes
  12. The maximum number of entries per individual contestant is 2 per Class
  13. The maximum number of entries per group is 2
  14. Each entry (whether in the same or different Classes) must be different – i.e. an entry must not be repeated in the competition
  15. Entries are accepted once the entry fee is paid (up to the maximum number of entries per Class)
  16. The entry fee is $5 per entry, payable by cheque to Rotary Club of Orange Inc., PO Box 52, Orange NSW 2800
  17. Entries close at 5 pm on Friday 21 January 2015
  18. Entrants will be notified by email of the time of their performance before Friday 5 February 2015
