Pathway 5– Direct Delivery

This is a direct delivery pathway meaning that you can either:

a)Have the course in your collegewith one of our trainers – make a booking and work with us to decide on dates. If you have more than 10 delegates then courses can be run in your venue or shared with another institution.

b)Attend an open course(see dates below).

Rationale

The training modules will not only improve your English Language skills and give you an understanding of the skills the students need to succeed but also develop teaching approaches that will motivate them and build confidence.

Module 1 – General Introduction to GCSE English Language

Skills required for the GCSE specifications; why students have struggled; barriers to achievement and how to overcome them.

Module 2 – Focus on the Reading Paper

Exploring the purpose of reading; reading skills; teaching ideas; assessment.

Module 3 – Focus on the Writing Paper

Exploring the purpose of writing; writing skills; teaching ideas; assessment.

Module 4 – Controlled assessment

The purpose of talk, creative writing and literature as required by exam boards; assessment.
