JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: RELIEF DEPUTY SHOP MANAGER
RESPONSIBLE TO: SHOP MANAGER
RESPONSIBLE FOR: VOLUNTEERS
OBJECTIVE: To assist the manager in operating all charity shop activities, in order to achieve set targets, maximise sales and maintain standards.
MAIN DUTIES
1. To maintain the weekly rota and to update ensuring optimum cover.
2. To assist in the recruitment, interview and training of new Volunteers to agreed procedures.
3. To assist the Shop Manager to manage the shop team by providing the direction, on-going training and motivation necessary to secure their competence and commitment.
4. To organise the further processing of all stock deliveries to the required standards and agreed amounts for the shop.
5. To price all hanging items going on the shop floor.
6. To maintain the charity stock quality standards and to follow the charity’s stock pricing guidelines.
7. To ensure stock rotation criteria are met.
8. To handle the control, security and re-ordering of all bought in merchandise.
9. To drive sales forward by efficient processing of donations, optimum pricing and good merchandising of the product in the shop.
10. To maximise shop sales to meet targets set and agreed for the shop.
11. To maintain high standards of presentation and display by merchandising and housekeeping to agreed standards.
12. To ensure standards of cleanliness and order are maintained throughout the shop, the processing area and the storage area and at the rear of the premises.
13. To have a working understanding of the profitability of the shop and controllable costs.
14. To control direct shop expenses through effective cost control.
15. To ensure that the shop is open during set trading hours.
16. To implement the highest standards of customer care and service at all times.
17. To monitor and check the security of stock and cash on the premises and report any shortfalls to the Area Manager.
18. To ensure the satisfactory completion of the daily till audit and that all monies are deposited, at the post office/bank.

20. To actively support good communication practices within your work and promote and main good teamwork.
21. To take advantage of training and development opportunities to further enhance your role within Acorns.

24. Be aware of and comply with the Fire Regulations within any Acorn’s building.
25. Carry out any reasonable duty as requested by your Line Manager.

RELIEF DEPUTY MANAGER
REPORTING TO: Shop Manager
LOCATION: All Shops
SALARY: £7.20 per hour
HOURS: Flexible: Maximum 37.5 hours per week
HOLIDAYS: Commensurate with hours worked
NB: No other terms and conditions apply as bank staff are not employed by Acorns, but from time to time we may call upon you to work for us to cover short term requirements. Should you accept work from us you will work for the duration of that shift only and there are no further obligations either party to the other.
