@eircom.net / Peaceful Harbour
I've been sailing these seas
for most of all these years
Riding the crest of a wave, made of tears
I've been drifting on a troubled sea
travelling aimlessly
till I put my anchor down on Peaceful Harbour
Well the winds of despair were blowing on my face
till the day I felt the gentle breeze
of amazing Grace
So I chartered a brand new course
Let the Saviour be my guiding Host
Then I put my anchor down on Peaceful Harbour
Now I've emptied all my cargo
on the docks of Heavens gate
Troubled seas I'm travelling no more
My sailing life is over
My legs have felt the land
Standing now upon the other shore
Well I'm watching the sun set down on a peaceful sea
Never in all my life have I felt so free
Now I'm standing upon the shore
sailing out no more
since I put my anchor down in Peaceful Harbour

Thirty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

6th November 2011

THIRY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME ‘11

Sorley’s Weather

When outside the icy rain
Comes leaping helter-skelter,
Shall I tie my restive brain
Snugly under shelter?
Shall I make a gentle song
Here in my firelit study,
When outside the winds blow strong
And the lanes are muddy?
With old wine and drowsy meats
Am I to fill my belly?
Shall I glutton here with Keats?
Shall I drink with Shelley?
Tobacco’s pleasant, firelight’s good:
Poetry makes both better.
Clay is wet and so is mud,
Winter rains are wetter.
Yet rest there, Shelley, on the sill,
For though the winds come frorely,
I’m away to the rain-blown hill
And the ghost of Sorley.
