IV. Determine Grade-Level Placement—Standards for Promotion upon Appeal

The grade placement committee shall review all facts and circumstances and consider the following standards in deciding to promote or retain the student:

  1. Recommendation of the student’s teacher
  2. Student’s grade in each subject or course
  3. Student’s scores on subjects assessed on STAAR assessment (also see previous page)
  4. Any other relevant academic information (attach documentation)

If all members agree that the student is likely to perform on grade level if given accelerated instruction during the following school year, the student shall be promoted. However, a student may not be promoted to

Grade 6 until the student has completed all the required accelerated instruction.
