FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK……
Do Your Best Everyday!
PARENTS + SCHOOLS WORKING TOGETHER = STUDENT SUCCESS!!
Attendance
Please make attending school a priority! Our goal for the year is having our students at school 98% of the time. When planning appointments for your child, please schedule them after school or at the end of the school day. Our learning time at Shadowbriar begins at 8:15 a.m.
Reading
Make sure your children read every day. Reading - like shooting baskets and playing the piano - is a skill. Like other skills, it gets better with practice. Researchers have found that children who spend at least 30 minutes a day reading for fun - whether they read books, newspapers, or magazines - develop the skills to be better readers at school.
Support PTO
When you support Shadowbriar’s PTO, you support your child’s future!! Funds we raise together will be used to purchase and update technology resources for students. Thank you for your support!

STUDENT ARRIVAL
BEFORE 7:40 A.M.
Parents please assist us in keeping your
child safe by not allowing them to walk to or be
dropped off at school before 7:40 a.m. We are
observing many students getting here prior to thattime, and they are not making good choices. Amajority of them are running around and playing, sometimes near the street. It is dark outside andanything can happen. Remember that there is NO ADULT SUPERVISION until 7:40 a.m. It is a major safety concern because a child can end up missing, can get seriously injured or even have problems with other students, and there is no adult to assist them. If they are walkers, they shouldn’t leave the house until 7:30 a.m. Please be advised that if we continue to see students here before that time we will contact you and if they are not following school rules they will be sent home. HISD’s primary goal is Student Safety Above ALL Else, and we must do what we can to ensure that they are safe. We appreciate your support.

STUDENT PICK-UP
The owner of the Shell convenient store and gas station across the street has asked that our parents not use the parking lot as a pick-up and drop-off area for our students. He has reported several near accidents involving our students. We strongly encourage you to participate in the car pick-up system. Please contact our school if you have questions about the dismissal system. Thank you!

The cost of each lunch is $2.25. It is VERY important to return completed lunch applications to the school.
