Research is the lifeblood of FoxPharma. The most important assets of FoxPharma is the intellectual property that is created by the research organization as they develop new drugs. For network security reasons, the Research organization would like to have you create a separate file server that will store the information created by the Research team.

Create a Virtual Machine, Join the Domain & Create an Alias
(20 points)
- Create a virtual machine that will:
- Run Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter.
- Name your VM the same as your TU AccessNet account with “-FSR1” appended to it. For example, if your Temple University AccessNet account was “TUA12345” then the machine name would be “TUA12345-FSR1”.
- Choose machine size “A1Standard”.
- Make TUA12345-DC1 be the DNS server and assign a static IP address with a host address of .30
- After the VM has been created:
- Add the VM to your domain.
- Turn off the Windows firewall for the domain
- Create an alias of “ResFileServer” in DNS for this machine.
- Login to your domain controller/DNS server and show the DNS entries for this new VM and the alias you just created. Create a legible screen shot of these entries in DNS that clearly shows the name, the type and the data associated with this DNS entry and alias. Paste the screen shot here (10 points):
- Launch “Active Directory Users and Computers” and create a legible screen shot that clearly shows all of the computers that are part of your network including this new file server. Paste the screen shot here (10 points):

Creating Groups, Accounts and Shares (20 points)
- Create a new group called “Research”.
- Create the following new accounts for people in the Research organization and make them members of the Research group you just created.
- Robin – Member of Research
- Ralph – Member of Research
- On the C-drive of the file server you created in part 1, create a folder called “Research”. Share this folder and grant the members of the Research group full access to this folder.
- Launch “Active Directory Users and Computers” and create a legible screen shot that clearly shows all of the users that are members of the Research group. Paste the screen shot here (10 points):
- Take a legible screen shot that clearly shows that member of the Research group have “read/write” access to this folder. Paste this screen shot here (10 points):

Mapping drives with logon scripts (60 points)
- Update your login script so that members of the Research group have their M-drive mapped to the Research share created in part 2. Copy and paste the lines of code added to your login script here (20 points):
- Login to your first workstation (i.e. TUA12345-WS1) as Robin and take a legible screen shot showing the drives that have been mapped by your login script by going to “Start…This PC”. Paste a screen shot of your mapped drives here (40 points):
