Please list what efforts your jurisdiction will be engaged in between now and July 2011 to substantially implement the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), as well as any efforts your jurisdiction has been engaged in since a first extension was granted to your jurisdiction last year, by providing the information requested below.
Your responses may be submitted in a separate document and submitted as an attachment to this extension request. Please also feel free to attach relevant materials that you would like the SMART Office to consider in support of your request.
1. Please describe any proposed or planned legislative activity in your jurisdiction that will assist your jurisdiction to implement SORNA.
2. Please describe any enhancements you will be making to your jurisdiction’s public sex offender website or notification programs to address SORNA requirements.
3. Please list any administrative, policy and/or procedural updates your jurisdiction has implemented or is planning to implement to expand information sharing regarding registered sex offenders to other relevant agencies inside and outside of your jurisdiction.
4. Please describe any collaborations with Indian tribes that may reside in your jurisdiction that will lead to increased compliance with SORNA.
On behalf of the above-referenced jurisdiction, I hereby request a one-year extension of time to comply with the requirements of Title I of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006, the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, from July 26, 2010 to July 27, 2011.

Jurisdictions must complete the form and return it to the SMART Office no later than July 1, 2010, to allow the SMART Office sufficient time to approve the request before the July 27, 2010, deadline. However, if your jurisdiction plans to submit an application for the SMART FY 2010 Support for Adam Walsh Act Implementation Grant solicitation, please note that an extension request must be submitted by April 26, 2010, as a condition of the grant application.
