In each group the students will say their name to the others members and will share the history and meaning of their names. (This was their assignment in the previous meeting)
MY NAME IS ______. I LOVE MY NAME BECAUSE ______.
Guide questions:
- In our family who usually give our name or nickname?
- Why do you think people give us nickname?
- Why are we given nickname?
- Why is it important to have a name?
Say:
Name is one way to indicate that we are different from other people and through our name other people canrecognize us easily. Also, our name indicates the family we belong to. Most of the time it is our parents who give us our name, but this is not just an ordinary name because our name symbolizes the love of the people who gave it just like our parents.
You already learned in our last lesson that Jesus is sent by God as gift to us because He loves us. Now, in our lesson we will discover more God loves Jesus by calling Him in a special name.
But before that, let us know the meaning of these words:
1. Beloved – a person who is greatly loved
2. Public ministry- teachings and deeds of Jesus Christ

The Spirit of God descending like a dove
A voice was heard from the heaven
5. Whose voice was heard? What was the message of that voice?
Voice of God the Father
“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased
Integration
Jesus’ baptism showed us that He is indeed the beloved Son of God. The voice of God the Father was heard and the Spirit of God descended on Him.
His baptism indicates that the Spirit of the Lord is with Him and his baptism is the preparation of His public ministry. In His public ministry, Jesus shows and teaches us how to love God and others through His words and deeds.
We too are God’s beloved through our baptism because the Spirit of God was given to us and the Holy Spirit moves us to be prayerful and loving like Jesus. As God’s beloved we are also called to love.
Assessment:
Pass the Ball
The teacher will play a lively music while the students pass the ball. When the music stops, the student who’s holding the ball will complete the sentence.
I am God’s beloved because ______.
Say: Jesus’ baptism showed us that He is the beloved Son of God and that the Spirit of God is with Him. And so as baptized we too are God’s beloved because the Spirit of God is given to us and we also have a special role in the church.
