HIGHLIGHTS of the School Board Meeting held July 18, 2011

Renewed the Certificate of Deposit with Farmers National Bank in the estimated amount of $1,404,455.00

which is maturing August 9, 2011 for twelve (12) months at .50%.

Approved, as listed and upon receipt of all appropriate documentation, adding the following to the substitute list for the 2011-2012 school year:

Heather Cyphert – English, Spec. Ed, Elementary

Karissa L. Kreidler - English

Approved hiring Jameen Stump, effective upon receipt of all appropriate documentation, as the Senior High Yearbook Advisor at a supplemental salary of $845.

Approved hiring Donald Skunda, effective upon receipt of all appropriate documentation, as the Head Junior High Football Coach, at a supplemental salary of $1,756.

Approved hiring Mark Hart, effective upon receipt of all appropriate documentation, as the Assistant Varsity Football Coach, at a supplemental salary of $1,939.

Accepted the Letter of Retirement effective August 28, 2011 from Dr. Joanne Domire. Dr. Domire has been an employee at A-C Valley since July 1996.

Approved Thomas W. Lah, D.M.D. as the School Dentist for the 2011-2012 school year at a stipend of $500.

Approved the final reading of Policy 702.1 Memorials.

Approved the first reading of Policy 218 Student Discipline.

Approved the first reading of Policy 218.1 Weapons and Dangerous Instruments.

Approved the first reading of Policy 222 Tobacco Use.

Approved the first reading of Policy 218.2 Terroristic Threats/Acts.

Approved the first reading of Policy 227 Controlled Substances.

Approved the first reading of Policy 323 Tobacco Use.

Approved the first reading of Policy 909 Municipal Government Relations.

Approved the request of Student Council to use the elementary cafetorium on October 29, 2011 for the Homecoming Dance from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Decorating to take place the afternoon of October 28, 2011.

Approved the request of Student Council to use the football fields and the restrooms to hold a Powder Puff Football Game on November 4, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Approved the request of Student Council to use the elementary cafetorium, library and gym for Breakfast with Santa and Elementary Kids’ Camp on December 10, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m..

Approved the request of Cub Scout Pack 60 to use the elementary cafetorium and elementary gymnasium, when available, on Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for sign ups and activities.

Approved the request of Pre-K Counts to hold registration in the elementary cafetorium on August 8, 2011 from 4: 30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Approved, as presented, new bus drivers (upon receipt of all appropriate documentation and an interview with the administration) veteran bus drivers and bus contractors for the 2011-12 school year.

Approved the request of Dave Sherman to use the school van on July 16, 2011 and July 17, 2011 to attend Gannon University Girls’ Basketball Team Camp.

Decided not to co-op with any school after 2011-12 school year.

Approved the sale of the old mower and to advertise for bids.

Approved the request of Tim Thompson to purchase a minivan to replace Bus 18 on the non-public run to Faith Christian Academy.

Reinstated Tracy Patton to full-time Business Teacher at the high school.

Hired Teresa Shirey as a Child Specific Aide at a salary of $9.72 per hour for 3.75 hours per day.
