Create Something!

Your project is to create something that clearly expresses something observed or learned from A Walk Across America and present it to the class! It may be a collection of original photographs, a movie, a piece of artwork like a painting, poems, a short story, a novel, or even a song. It would have to be clear that AWAA inspired you! Likewise, it should be appropriate in length (i.e., the product must reflect that an appropriate amount of time went into it.)

In a 5 minute presentation, you would present your creation to the class. Depending on the creation, you would be expected to either perform or explain your work. Your grade would be based on the creativity, workmanship, and effort put into the creation of the piece. A componentgrade will also be given to your presentation.

Some general information:

1)Photographs should be original and printed larger than standard and mounted on poster board. Or, you may take digital photographs and display them on your laptop to be displayed on an LCD. No less than 15.

2)Songs may be recorded or performed live. Words must be handed out to the class.

3)Artwork must be done on appropriate paper, size, etc.NOTE: POSTERS THAT ARE NOT ARTWORK (ORIGINAL DRAWINGS OR PAINTINGS) ARENOTACCEPTABLE!No maps!

4)You may work with a partner or a group. You would have to demonstrate that equal work was performed, either showing it obviously in the work or documenting it separately.

5)If you are interested in creating a mural in Rm. 109 depicting AWAA, we have Dr. Myers’ permission.

6)Remember – your creation must be an intentional reflection on something from AWAA. It can be a theme, idea, motif – anything! But – it must be clear to the viewers that you created this because of having been inspired by the book.

7)Submit your idea to me no later than Monday, Dec. 1

for approval and/or feedback, hints, or if you want

help.

8) Due Monday, Wed., Dec. 17. You will be docked 10

pts. each day for late submissions. If you are sick

a parent/guardian/friend/your dog should bring your

project in or it will be L8! SEE LAST PAGE!

9) How about A Walk Across America comic book? A Walk Across

Americamovie? Podcast? Sculpture? Faux letters home from

Peter? A drama filmed (or acted “live”?) A Google-Earth

virtual Walk Across America?
