POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Early Years Business Development coordinator / Reporting To : Preschool Manager
POSITION SUMMARY(To describe the purpose, duties and responsibilities in general)
To assist the manager in all aspects of developing the preschool as a successful business and a responsible charity. No two weeks will be the same, so the successful candidate must be flexible with a real ‘can do’ attitude. Must be a self-starter who can take an idea or task and run with it, working independently with direction from the manager. A key part of the role will be to liaise with people and organisations outside the setting, e.g. school; parish council; parents; OFSTED; grant awarding bodies; other settings. Therefore good written and spoken communication will be important. Must be able to work as part of a team; the setting has physical challenges in terms of space, so respect and adaptability within a team setting is essential.
Activities will include but not limited to website updates and development; contributing to the business and development plans; completing grant applications; developing resources; involvement in the project to rebuild the school/village hall, or maybe just putting on a pair of wellies and improving the outdoor resources!
Working arrangements are flexible. Following successful completion of a 3 month probationary period, home working will be considered depending on the task in hand.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
MAJOR ACTIVITIES
1. / Business development
- Work with the manager to develop and deliver the business plan for the setting.
- Seek out and prepare applications for grant applications to support the setting and community projects.
- Support the business and parish council in ongoing project to build new village hall/community centre.
2. / Marketing, PR and Community Liaison
- Develop and update social media presence – both as a medium for community engagement as well as to encourage participation of families already using the setting.
- Plan and cost advertising opportunities to promote the setting to new families and communities.
3. / Technology and Resources
- Develop and update the preschool website
- Research and assess new technology solutions for the settings need’s whilst
4. / Supporting the team and the work of the preschool
- Develop and introduce new processes e.g. updating the Welcome Pack for prospective new families
- Co-ordinating with staff to perform routine responsibilities e.g. 2 year checks
- Show visitors around the setting e.g. prospective families
- Maintaining children’s files
- Booking home visits for new families
OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE (i.e. Travel requirements, driving licence etc)
- Full clean driving licence- desirable
- Requirement for occasional weekend or evening work including travelling to other settings/training.

SELECTION CRITERIA
ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
Education / Good general education level / Degree or FE qualification.
Prior Experience / Industry / Prior employment within an early years setting
Knowledge / Knowledge of early years framework
Technical and Business / MS Office applications
Self-Management / Initiative, creative thinking and strong self-organisation
Language / Strong oral and written English skills
Physical Requirements of person / Ability to travel outside the setting occasionally
Other Requirements of person / Good level of numeracy essential along with accuracy and attention to detail
