Select New Test from the menu. /
Give the test a name, and choose the course.
Click Save. /
On the screen, you will see an analysis of the test. Since it is new, and there are no questions in it, there are only zeroes in the analysis. /
You can choose to add Instructions for your test, separate it into sections, or add questions. These can be added in any order, and can be rearranged later.
Please note: The numbering of the questions restarts at 1 in each new section of a test. An instruction can separate parts of a test with text, but the numbering continues from the previous questions. /
When ready, choose Add – Question.
You can search available questions by outcome or by reference.
“Level” indicates the level of question – 1, 2, or 3. “Type” indicates either selected response; constructed response – short; or constructed response - long. /
Outcome: Search by GCO and SCO.
Choose All in order to see all questions available for your selections.
Put a checkmark in the box Include Answers if you want the answers to be accessible. Click Search. /
Reference: Select the text, chapter and section to be included in the test.
Choose All in order to see all questions available for your selections.
Put a checkmark in the box Include Answers if you want the answers to be accessible. Click Search. /
When the various questions are visible, put a checkmark in the box for each question you want to use. Click Save to add these questions to your test.
Each question will give a description which includes its level, type and outcomes. /
When questions are added to the test, the analysis will change to reflect the material you have included. /
To rearrange the questions or to put instructions and/or sections in the correct places, click the Sort option in the right menu.
You can select any item in the test and identify its order using the drop-down menu. If you change item 14 to make it item 2, all other numbers will re-order automatically. /
Once your test is complete, click on My Tests in the right menu.
Click on the Title to edit the test. Click on TEST to open a printable document in your browser. Choose one or more of the other links to open other options, suitable for printing. /
When you open the printable version of your test, you can print directly from the browser. You may notice some spacing irregularities. Each question has space built in for student answers, and this may cause extra space to be left at the top of a page. /
You can also copy the printable document and paste the material into a word processor. This may also cause irregularities, because some questions had to be created as images so that the characters would print correctly from an Internet browser.
If you paste your test into Microsoft Word, you can make some changes – see the handout “Working with Graphics: Microsoft Word” available for Office XP/2003 or Office 2007:

/ Please note: Some questions were created as graphics, including the estimated space requirement for the answer. This was necessary to ensure that certain images and characters would print correctly from a web browser. You may need to crop your images in MS Word to make them fit properly on the page.
