WHERE SALVATION WILL TAKE YOU

Isaiah 12:1-3 (King James Version)
1 And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

¨  INTRODUCTION:

¨  In this text, the word, salvation, is used 3 times.

¨  It is one of the most important words in the entire Bible!

¨  In fact, it is used 173 times in the Bible. In the Old Testament,

¨  the word comes from a Hebrew word which means, "Deliverance and victory."

¨  In the New Testament, it comes from a Greek word that means, "Deliverance, preservation, safety."

¨  Salvation is what we receive when we trust Jesus as our Savior!

¨  Salvation is the gift of God!

¨  Salvation is not a thing that we will receive some day,

o  it is a present possession of every person who has received Jesus into their hearts.

¨  Salvation always takes you somewhere!

o  Notice this:

It brought Israel out of bondage – Ex. 14:13 2.

It brought Jonah out of the whale – Jonah 2:9 3.

It brought David out of the pit – Psalms 40:1-3 4.

It brought Paul out of a lost condition – 1 Tim. 1:12-15 5.

It brings every sinner out of darkness – 1 Pet. 2:9

¨  I would like to take a few minutes to tell you where salvation, if you have it, will take you.

¨  Notice four places salvation will take you.

I.  IT WILL TAKE YOU TO HEAVEN

¨  John 14:1-3 (King James Version)
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

A.  Salvation is the key that opens the door to the kingdom of GoD

B.  The glories of that city

¨  Revelation 21:4 (King James Version)
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

C.  All believers are going there some day!

II.  IT WILL TAKE YOU INTO HOLINESS

¨  2 Corinthians 5:17 (King James Version)
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

A.  Salvation will alter your life! No man can receive Jesus and remain the same.

B.  One mark of true repentance unto salvation is a drastically changed life

¨  1 John 2:9 (King James Version)
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

C.  There will be a desire to serve the Lord

¨  Ephesians 2:10 (King James Version)
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

¨  James 2:18 (King James Version)
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

III.  IT WILL TAKE YOU INTO THE HARVEST

¨  Mark 16:15 (King James Version)
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

B.  Jesus never called us to be lazy, He called us to be busy letting our lights shine for Him.

C.  Every Christian is a witness! Either for or against Jesus! Which are you?

¨  Hebrews 10:25 (King James Version)
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

A.  Salvation is always accompanied by a desire to gather with saints and worship the Lord.

B.  Jesus went to church
