Joint account:

In Norway we do not have joint accounts as you know it. You can only have one account owner. Spouses or partners may be assigned as account managers. Other persons may not be assigned as account managers.We need to apply for a D-number for the managers also.The manager will have to fill out an application for account managing,and they will have to send a bank reference and a clear copy of his or her passport that is certified by that person’s bank, all these documents must be sent address below.

Taxes:

Foreign citizens domiciled and working outside Norway are not subject to taxation in Norway. Please contact your domestic tax authorities in order to obtain information on how to report your deposits.

The Norwegian government will also inform the customer’s domiciled country of their deposits in DNB Bank ASA.

Breaking a fixed-rate deposit agreement:

If you break the fixed-rate deposit agreement, we calculate the commission as following:

1.00% * the withdrawn amount *(the remaining days of the lock-in period / 360)

What currency to transfer money in:

Usually transfers are done in the currency of your domestic country. All transfers are exchanged to NOK upon arrival at DNB Bank.

Account statements / Year end statements:

The account statements and the year-end statements are available through your online banking access. Please see your inbox.

All documents are prepared in accordance with Norwegian tax law.

How to close an account:

Please send us a secure e-mail through your online banking access. Include IBAN, BIC/Swift, name and address of the bank you want us to transfer the money to. Please notice that we will only transfer the money to an account in the name of the account holder.

Debit card / Credit card:

We do not offer debit or credit cards to foreign customers domiciled outside Norway.

The Norwegian bank guarantee fund:

The purpose of the Guarantee Fund is to secure the deposit liabilities of its members in such a way that deposits of up to NOK2million per depositor per bank are guaranteed, should a member be unable to meet its commitments. For information about the bank guarantee fund, please visit
