As the Director of Operations, you will have a key role at this facility, providing leadership to a team of Production,Maintenance and Scheduling professionals in a unionized environment. You will be responsible for giving direction to your team of Managers and Supervisors on the daily demands of a manufacturing facility as well as the Master Scheduling group, ensuring that the production schedule is balanced and attainable. Your Maintenance team will look to you to oversee the implementation of TPM principles and processes. As a born leader, you will create and support Continuous Improvement projects, Lean Manufacturing and waste elimination strategies to drive excellence, increase capacity and, reduce costs. You will be responsible for fostering a positive employee relations climate that will encourage buy-in, teamwork and participation by employees across the organization.Where the safety of our employee’s is of the utmost importance, you will ensure that Health & Safety programs are implemented in a manner that safeguards the well-being of staff and promotes prompt responses to Health & Safety concerns.Finally, you will enforce safe work practices under Health & Safety Policies and legislated standards
As the ideal candidate you will have a four year degree or technologist accreditation, preferably in engineering or another technical discipline and over 7 years of Operations or Plant Management experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment. As a demonstrated Change Management advocate you will have strong knowledge of JIT/Lean Manufacturing principles, and Six Sigma. You are a team player with the ability to influence and motivate your staff in order to gain employee commitment and achieve results through clear communication, delegation and problem solving. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the Aerospace Industry.
