Directions for Uploading the MSII Firmware Into the 4150 Version CPU

Directions for uploading the MSII firmware into the 4150 version CPU.

(The CPU with the RJ45 port next to Port 0 and the power connector)

  1. Attach the null modem cable to the Printer/ Debug port
  1. Start Hyperterminal on you PC. Connections should be:
    CommPort: (Your comm port)
    Baud :57600
    Data:8
    Parity:None
    Stop:1
    Flow:Xon/Xoff
  2. Once connected, press the “Enter” key and you should see:
    UNKNOWN COMMAND
  3. Type “Reboot” then press the “Enter” key. Then hold the “L” key as the unit reboots.
    The CPU will reboot with lots of data scrolling down the screen. The scrolling will stop and you should see:
    An CS89X0 was found by I/O scan.
    Reading EEPROM ....
    Using twisted pair cable
    System: [345]86 processor, Two 8259s

  4. Select option ‘U” by pressing the letter “U”. The following message will appear.
    Do you want to download a new program executable file (*.exe file) (Y/N)?
  5. Press the letter “Y”. The following message will appear.
    Do you want to overwrite the existing program executable file
    (Prolinx.exe) (Y/N)?
  6. Press the letter “Y”. The following message will appear.
    TRANSFERRING FILE FROM COMPUTER TO PROLINX UNIT:
    Send the Program (*.exe) file now using YModem transfer protocol!

  7. In Hyperterminal select “Transfer” then “Send File” at the top of the window. The following window will appear.
    NOTE:
    You MUST browse to the correct file and select the protocol Ymodem.

  8. Press “Send” to begin the transfer. The transfer will start in about 5 seconds. The following window will appear.

    Note:
    There should be zero Retries during the upload process. If a retry occurs, restart the process.
    As the upload process completes the following messages will appear on your screen.
    Erasing Application sectors... 7 8 9 10 11 12 13
    Searching for exe file downloaded....File Found...Opening...
    Loading file LTQMD-02.EXE to flash disk (len = 258516).
    Bytes left to Write 0

  9. Press the “Esc” key. The following message will appear on your screen.
    Press 'Y' key to confirm program exit!
  10. Press “Y” and the unit will reboot.

After the unit has completed the reboot you will be returned to a prompt.
