DIRECTIONS for Algebra I/Integrated Math I BENCHMARK ADMINISTRATION

DIRECTIONS FOR Math ___ BENCHMARK ADMINISTRATION

Before Beginning the Testing Session: The test administrator must clear the calculator memory and all applications of the calculators, including personal calculators that students may use during the test. Please see the attached list of acceptable and unacceptable calculators.

LOGGING IN: Using Chromebooks for Schoolnet Tests

1)When students open their Chromebook device, they will need to login using their ECPS email username and password (see Media Coordinator for more information).

2)Once this has been done, the students’ screens should look like this:

3)Students will enter their unique username and password for PowerSchool/Schoolnet. If a teacher does not have this information, please see your school PowerSchool manager.

4)Teachers are reminded to stagger logins so that the website does not get overloaded.

5)Students who have successfully logged in will see the Schoolnet assessment screen.

If students are having trouble logging in, please have them shut down the

Chromebook, wait a few seconds, and try logging in again.

Once login is successful, please have students enter the Test Code received from

your School Test Coordinator.

DIRECTIONS:

SAY: Today you are going to take the Math ___ assessment developed by Edgecombe County Schools. It is important that you do your very best on this test. Please take your time and read each section carefully.

Two class periods is the recommended time for most benchmarks—students may have some additional time during the next class period if needed as long as it is still within the administration window. Please check with your School Test Coordinator for additional information.

SAY: Before you begin, you must clear your work area of any materials except for a pencil. If you do not have a pencil, please raise your hand, and I will provide one for you.

The test administrator distributes sharpened number two pencils to students who raise their hands.

SAY: I am going to give you a blank sheet of paper and graph paper. If you need more paper and graph paper during the test, raise your hand. I will give you another sheet.

The test administrator distributes blank paperandgraph paper to students.

For Math I only

SAY: Benchmark #___ contains questions that are calculator inactive and calculator active. For the first part of the test, you are not allowed to use a calculator. When you get to question # ____, please raise your hand and I will give you a calculator for the remainder of the test. Please remember that you should not return to the inactive part of the test once you have received a calculator.

For all Math benchmarks

READONLY FOR STUDENTS RECEIVING THE COMPUTER READS TEST ALOUD-STUDENT CONTROLLED ACCOMMODATIONS
SAY: You may control which portion of the online assessment are read aloud by clicking on the blocks of text to be read. Each test item and answer choice can be read by clicking on the item. Some of the graphics and tables cannot be read by the computer. Are there any questions?

Say: Are there any questions about the tools or how to begin the online assessment?

The test administrator must pause to respond to questions. When ready, the test administrator continues.

SAY: Click the “Start” button. You may begin.

Test administrators will monitor students as they complete their tests and help with any technical difficulties.

To assist students with budgeting time, the test administrator must record the following on the board for all students to see:

Note: Students will have 45 minutes to work before the first break. The test administrator must monitor to ensure students are on task. The test administrator may NOT provide assistance during the actual test administration unless students have a computer problem.

Read to Announce the First Break:

SAY: Stop working. You will take a three-minute break. Click the PAUSE button at the bottom of your screen.

The test administrator must ensure each student has clicked the PAUSE button and the online test items are not visible on computer monitors.

SAY: You may stand beside your desk and stretch or just relax, but you must not talk during the break.

After three minutes, the test administrator must tell the students to continue working.

SAY: The break has now ended. Return to your seats. Some of you may finish early. If you do, DO NOT CLICK “END TEST” until you are certain that you have answered all questions. Please stay quietly in your seat, raise your hand, and I will assist you.Now click the CONTINUE button to continue working.

The test administrator should add three minutes to the end time on the board to account for break.

A 5-minute warning must be provided near the end of the test session.

SAY: You have now completed the MATH Benchmark. Please log out of Schoolnet.
