  • Each race weekend will have Sat night event including dinner
  • Hosting Buccaneer North American week after DO
  • No Coast Laser Championships in coordination with DO
  • Etchells World qualifier event – 2 days before DO - charters available – for 2015 Hong Kong
  • Hosting the CO Governor’s Cup on Labor Day weekend – 1st time in Dillon in many years.
  • Will host Regatta of Champions –champs from around CO lakes together for 1 day regatta
  • Asked by National Hospice Cup to commit for 3 years – need to supply complete fleet of boats for all competitors – evaluating whether to take this on
  • Joe Ray (mayor) and Brian Brady (police chief) not in their positions at the Town of Dillon anymore
  • Lease has been extended for 5 years (until end of town’s lease with Denver Water Board)
  • Year of the volunteer! Join in now.
  • Terry & Laurie Barr managing the Dillon Open
  • Rear Commodore added as a board member – The goal is to serve as Rear Commodore for 2 years, move to Vice-Commodore, then maybe move to Commodore. The hope is one will get experience with DO for a couple years before having to take it on as Vice Commodore.
  • Change for 2014 Fleet captains not part of the board (in new bylaws)

Treasurer’s Report from Rick Norris:

  • 2013 ended with $39,232 in the bank.
  • Incurred $31,804 in capital expenditures to move and improve clubhouse.
  • Acquired new Committee Boat for $9,569.
  • Received $8,600 in donations to the clubhouse renovation fund
  • 2013 Revenue for new bar was $7,889, expenses $9,180.
  • Have about $1000 in liquor inventory
  • Plan to spend less than the 2013 $3,000 on permits (less Fridays)
  • 2013 DO net loss $3,055 compared to $8,536 profit from 2012. This is due to no sponsorship money in 2013 when we had $17,200 in 2012.
  • 2013 Net Income from $2,230 before the write-off of unused deck from old location. After write off – net loss was $4,424 compared to net income $12,994 in 2012 and $1,331 in 2011.

Secretary's Report from Kristin Zagray

  • Membership was UP last year! In 2012, 15 of the 141 total were non-paying free social membership (many became paying members in 2013) and one comp. So only 125 paying members. In 2013, 151 were paying members (155 less comps and honorary).
  • Good news is that the categories growing are Full and Family memberships. Social remained steady.
  • Racing members remained the same.
  • We collected $1500 more in 2013 for the Juniors – up to $1900.
  • In 2014 we have 2 Non-Res membership options. One with Reciprocity rights with a slightly increased price. We should think about ways to increase sales to that category as the price is much less than most any other yacht club. Potential *Revenue source.

Juniors Report from Vickie Ragle (in absentia):

  • Junior summer schedule is set and online registration is open
  • The first week of camp (which is the 2nd week in June) will be a discounted week for locals.
  • We will be doing the SOS program differently this year. Rather than have one week just for SOS - we will be mixingthem in during the regular camps.
  • The Board will include: Vickie Ragle, Snyder, Fesenmayer, Jayn Karl, Sarah Ragle, Doug Periniand James.
  • 6 new Terras. Community Sailing has 9. Planning on mixing up the teams and racing each other more this year.Investigating changesto the daily schedule of camp and try to have a more leveled instruction.
  • Hired a new instructor, a lady - to work with the younger beginners.

Unfinished Business:

  • Need to bring bylaws up to date to accommodate new needs and organization of the club.
  • Greg Schertz asked to clarify the new roles of the fleet captains in the approved Bylaws
  • Dyce makes motion to adopt Bylaws as presented with language of the fleet captains, Ally Helmer seconded. Approved unanimously.
  • V Miler – carpet donation and now new cabinets for 2014
  • Nicks donated stove and fridge to DYC Clubhouse
  • Considering building steps and making a bar open out of our back room to avoid having to haul alcohol out to tent each day.
  • Dave Helmer will chair a task force addressing whether this club should look to build a permanent building. Analyze all aspects of this kind of project, membership, financing, town requirements, year long club, etc.
  • 2014 Fleet Captains

Etchells – Wayne Sauer

J22 – Mike Kline

Ensign – Rick Norris

J24 – Todd Warnagora

Star – Tim Seeling

New Business:

  • Jackson: Can’t renew multi-year membership online. We need to look into whether this can be improved
  • Helmer: Why offer credit card on file? Benefit of being a member. Signal low in clubhouse so consistency not there for running at each purchase. Also chaoticwhen folks get off the water and it would be crazy hard to swipe each time with one bartender. Also we can’t compete with Travis.
  • Baker: Asked about survey from last year. Snyder said New 2014 DYC Survey coming to your mailbox soon.
  • Reinhart: Did we reduce the # of racing weekends this summer? Snyder Yes 7 Race weekends this summer.
  • Sue Sauer is new 2014 Race Director to take over from Robin Jackson
  • Baker: Suggested new racing points model. It was agreed that he will collaborate with Sue and Scott in evaluating whether we should give it a try.
  • We delayed season and added practice race weather and ice permitting.

Meeting Adjourned

Sears motioned to adjourn. O’Neil seconded. Meeting adjourned
