Course Description: In this course, the basic concepts from Algebra I are enriched. Topics studied include graphing, analyzing, and interpreting functions including polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions; systems of linear equations and inequalities; matrices; conic sections; exponents and radicals. Calculators and computer software will be used when appropriate to enhance instruction.

Classroom Rules/Guidelines:

  • Bring ALL materials to class and take them with you when you leave.
  • Follow directions the first time they are given.
  • Treat each person in this room with respect and dignity.
  • No Food, Drinks, or Electronics.
  • No Cellphones/Headphones out during instruction and class activities unless asked by teacher.

Classroom Procedures:

  • When you enter class gather all necessary materials for the day’s lesson.
  • Turn in any assignments into your class’s bin and start on your bell ringer quietly.
  • Remember to ask questions throughout the lesson to clarify any misunderstandings.
  • Return all materials borrowed to their correct location at the conclusion of class.

  • One(3 prong folder with pockets)-any color

Math Notebook:

  • Students are required to have One(3 prong folder with pockets)-any color, which contains bell ringers and journals.

Grading Policy: Each grading period, grades will be based on completion of assignments, test performance, class presentations, class participation, projects, and group activities. Grades are available for review before or after school.

60% Class Work, Homework, Bell Ringers, and Class Participation

40% Tests and Other Assessments

Homework:Homework will be assigned regularly in this course and is essential for mastery and success. Correct answers without proper procedures will not receive credit. Homework is due at the beginning of class.

Penalties:

  • If 1 day late Max Grade: 70%
  • If 2 days late Max Grade: 60%
  • If more than 2 days lateMax Grade: 0%
