In part B, learners explore the nutritional needs of individuals at different stages of their lives. They will learn more about the specific diets that some individuals need, for example individuals with allergies or other particular dietary needs.
This unit will also enable learners to understand some of the personal preferences individuals may have with regard to their diet. Students will apply this knowledge and understanding
to create nutritional plans for individuals with special dietary needs, which will helpdevelop their nutritional planning skills.
Students will:
  • Describe the specific dietary needs of two individuals at different life stages.
  • Create a nutritional plan for two individuals with different specific nutritional needs
  • Explain the factors influencing the dietary choices of two individuals with specific dietary needs at different life stages.
/ In this externally assessed unit, students:
  • explore human growth and development across life stages
  • Investigate factors that affect human growth and development and how theyare interrelated.
In Part A students explore:
  • The different life stages people pass through during the life course
  • The Key aspects of human growth and development at each life stage
/ In Part B, students explore:
  • The physical factors that affect human growth and development.
  • The Social, cultural and emotional factors that affect human growthand development
  • The Economic factors that affect human growth and development

  • It is recommended that students purchase revision guides and workbooks to help them prepare for the externally assessed unit
  • Revision guides and workbooks can be purchased via school or directly from the Pearsons website –

Assessment includes:
  • Written nutritional plans. Evidence to include presentation slides and written report.
  • Assessment will be an Internal assignment which will be completed in lessons only
  • Assignment work will be completed in the last 2-3 weeks before the end of the half term
  • 100% Attendance in lessons is vital in order for students to understand and complete assignments based on lesson content

  • An external exam to be sat again as a resit if needed. This unit is worth 25% of the course and will be assessed by an externally set examination in May.
