St Nicholas Sanctuary Flowers:Last Sunday the flowers were given to David and Claudette Webster.
St. Nicholas Monthly Charity: From April 2017, a new list of charities will be created to cover a period of six months to September. No charities were put forward when a notice was put in the January newsletter. If you have a charity which you would like our congregation to support, please letthe PCC secretary have details which will be submitted for consideration at the next PCC meeting which is on Thursday 16th March 2017. The Bishop's Lent Appeal 2017will be focused on raising money to provide a car for Hospice Ethiopia to reach those in need of palliative care. Hospice Ethiopia is the only palliative care unit in Ethiopia. They provide free community based palliative care to terminally ill people within threedistricts of the capital city. With just one specially trained doctor and three nurses, they serve an estimated population of 900,000. Through the appeal, your money will go towards providing the Hospice with an off-road rental car for two years. Roadsare often rough and of poor quality, and public transport is busy and unreliable. We want to help enable care and equipment to reach those who cannot travel to the hospice. Some of our churches will be joining in this appeal. Furtherinformation and gift aid envelopesare available. This Sunday at St Nicholas The Lenten organ voluntary after the 9.30 service will be Cesar Franck’s Prelude, Fugue and Variation in b minor.St Nicholas Choral Evensong will be sung on 12th March by the Dereham and Bradenham choir plus friends with Dougal Smith at the organ.
Annual Meeting of Parishioners and Annual Parochial Church Meeting: Each year there is the opportunity for people to be involved in decisions concerning their ecclesiastical parish. Any resident on the Parliamentary Register of Electors can take part in the election of Churchwardens at the Annual Meeting of Parishioners. Only those on the Church Electoral Roll can participate in the Annual Parochial Church Meeting. If you would like to join the Electoral Roll then forms will be found in church or contact the Churchwardens to be put in touch with the Electoral Roll Officer.

St Nicholas Charitable Giving: A cheque for £31.70 has been sent to the Children’s Society from the Schools’ Christingle services, and a cheque for £77.26 has been sent to Christians Against Poverty.

The St Nicholas PCC has agreed that, with immediate effect, the monthly 11.15am communion service onthe thirdSunday should be discontinued.This is partly becausethe average attendance during 2016 excluding the celebrant and organistwas 7, made up chiefly of those who were on duty or who had already attended an earlier service.Also this will give us the opportunity to concentrate onnew projects such as Cafe Church.
The Funeral for Felicity Browning will take place on Wednesday 8th March at 1.45pm at Mintlyn Crematorium; the family invite you to join them, and afterwards for Refreshments at 102, Middlemarch Road, Toftwood from 4pm.

March 5th, 1863
The day after tomorrow the Princess Alexandra of Denmark will arrive at Gravesend to be met by her fiancé, the P. of Wales, and be conducted in State through the City to Paddington, en route to Windsor, where they are to be married on Tuesday next. Such a sight has not been seen in London for many a year - vast preparations are being made and enormous prices being given for seats along the line of the procession. My father, being for many years a Director of the Amicable Assurance in Fleet Street has a window allotted for him & his friends, & wrote today inviting us to occupy it. After many 'pros & cons' it was decided for my dear wife and Helen to go.
