PURPOSE: With direction, provide support to the Communications and Marketing team on both employee and member communications and marketing projects. Contribute and assist in implementing creative communication concepts and marketing ideas for promoting Dairyland and its member cooperatives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.  Assist with development of print and electronic newsletters, web site and social media, videos, displays and other marketing/communication materials as needed.

2.  Contribute content and assist with publishing and distribution of Short Circuits employee newsletter.

3.  Provide creative input and support to members of the Communications and Marketing group.

4.  Coordinate assigned projects with graphic design department to translate concepts into print, online or other collateral materials.

5.  Assist team members with copyediting for the various promotional materials defined above.

6.  Assist with displays, etc., at special events and meetings. Attend events as directed.

7.  Other duties as assigned.

NATURE AND EXTENT OF FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience: Current student in an accredited two- or four-year degree program emphasizing communications, marketing, digital media, journalism or related field. Utility knowledge helpful.

Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer literacy (Microsoft Office) required. Graphic design and photography experience and/or education a plus.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid Driver’s License.

Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, walking, pushing/pulling, lifting (up to 10 lbs.), twisting upper body, and bending. Ability to operate/manipulate keyboard, computer mouse, printer, calculator, pager, telephone, copier and binders/manuals.

Environmental Demands: Works indoors and outdoors. Occasionally in extreme noise, mechanical, and electrical hazards.

Other Job Characteristics: Must be a team-oriented and independent worker. Variable and frequent tasks and may need to multi-task. Must be self-motivated, enthusiastic and patient. Frequent interaction with staff and members. Formal and informal work setting. Some travel in service territory may occur.
