After being employed by Logical/3fifteen for a year and it’s closure at the end of November 2001, I have been doing website design & hardware support on a freelance basis. I couple my projects with a strong emphasis on the relations that I keep with my clients.

In running my own business I have gained experience in all aspects of marketing, client liaison, quotations, invoicing, project planning whether it’s a website or IT support, graphic design, database design, web development and accompanying ISP arrangements.

I have sourced my own clients and taken pride in building strong relationships with them. I have had very positive feedback in this regard.

On quoting for a project, I draw Website Maps in Microsoft Visio 2010 to help the prospective client conceptualise their site. Throughout the duration of the project I explain all planning and development stages to my clients to leave them with a sound understanding of the issues surrounding their sites.

I believe that the conceptual design of a stable system must be sustainable across new platforms to keep pace with the advances of the IT industry. I mainly use Adobe Dreamweaver CS4for coding. For the page layouts, menu designs and button creations I use Adobe Fireworks CS4, and Adobe Photoshop CS4. To assure my code is standards compliant I use HTML Validator(HTML Tidy), Web Developer & Firebug extensions in Firefox.

* Please note: Some of the sites in my portfolio can be viewed from a portal page I’ve created as they are no longer live on their respective domains. Reason being the clients have either closed their businesses or gave their sites to someone who can do it for next to nothing or free.

As an added service to new clients, I offer to research possible methods of e-marketing in their specific industry, and then conceptualising an online marketing strategy.

My company Webmeister is registered as a MWEB Small Business Partner, offering their whole range of business services & products to my clients.I also install most of the MWEB products and services myself.

W.r.t. desktop & network support I first do a needs analysis at the client’s premises after which I procure all necessary hardware & software infrastructurefrom my distributors.This includes ADSL Routers, hardware firewalls, network switches and cabling, broadband routers, wireless access points, NAS Drives, network printers, workstations.

When creating WIFI networks I do a site survey w.r.t. channels and SSID’s in use with the app inSSIDer as to not use a channel already in use.

My WIFI networks are known for the robustness as I deploy hidden SSID’s, MAC address filtering, 64 character key codes & static IP addresses. At completion I create a complete HTML network device report containingamong others, IP & MAC addresses, device name and type.

Lately I’ve also been doing extensive Android support and training, connecting tablets and smartphones to wifi networks linking them to File Servers, NAS drives and network printers.

3fifteen Business Solutions (Cape Town): August 2000 - November 2001

• Junior Software & Web Developer

I worked in project management, designing System & Internet Flowcharts using Microsoft Visio 2000, conducting Function Point Analysis to determine feasibility and Return On Investmentin System Analysis & Design for various teams.

I was concerned about the company’s client interface and took over responsibility from the sales executives for creating the technical and non-technical slideshows (MS Powerpoint) used in the presentations to clients and prospective clients.

Clients:OLRAC ~ Two websites for Olrac. I was the project leader, developer and sales executive for this project, and

our client used 3fifteen ever since.

NASPERS

I worked on the ‘Autonomy’ project team, translating all ASP frontend pages from English to Afrikaans and compiling the user manual for system administrators.

SOLTEC

I assisted with ASP Pages utilising VBScript and JavaScript for data capturing on the ‘Health-E-Solutions’ Project

DigiCore Technology (Pretoria): February 2000 – July 2000

Call Centre's productivity & efficiency increased by 60% and client services & feedback improved drastically.

Created the HEAT Call Management Database with Microsoft ACCESS & SQL as the DBMS's. Created data capturing forms, validations & rules with which they function; users and their security rights. Compiled customer records against which calls were logged and created monthly Call Centre Reports for management. I also trained all call centre staff.
