6. Reports

President’s Report – P. Simpson.

We are seeing more and more grievances and members are being targeted.

The union is here for you. Any issues please contact us we will make sure the collective agreement is being respected, and members are being treated fairly.

If you are applying for a Leave of absence, the board cannot take your seniority away.

K-12 Meeting – A new study for custodial survey. Please everyone fill it in. It is for all members to do it. Not just custodians.

Chief Shop Steward’s Report – D. Parris

1st Stage grievance Clerical

2 week Suspension for a custodian.

1st stage grievance for 2 positions that have not been posted but have exceeded for more than 30 days.

3rd stage grievance we resolved.

Political Action – K. Sunner

Have been working with the NDP Katrina Chen and Anne Kang, Raj Chouhan.

A working roof bylaw to be drawn up.

Talks regarding the drug overdoses call 911 and give space.

Air Transat changing uniforms. Old uniforms are going to Mission Dress to success for women and for men Lower income. There will be no more high heel shoes.

New Westminster is still feeling the effects of cutbacks with custodial

New Business

Question regarding why are the security guards working alone. There could possibly be a call in process every hour for safety. This is a new position and a process will need to be established.

Snow days, School closure if you show up you will be paid 4 hours.

Students in Access programs were subject to cold rooms. This affects these students who are sensitive to temp.

Motion: to donate $250 to Local 728 Surrey Schools for Vasaki. April 22 - 2017

Next month we will be holding an election for a Support Staff Shop Steward.

Good of the Union

Simi – Sun Run. We still have spaces come and see Simi to register today.

EA Support workers would like to thank the union for the donation for the ProD Day.

John Morton wanted to thank David Chung for his work as he retires this month.
