Dear Parent/Carer

I write to advise you of the outcome of the grant applications to deliver a comprehensive, more integrated overnight short break, short break activities and family support for families with children and young people on the autism spectrum service in your area.

The council has resolved the following:

Allerdale and Copeland

·  Grant awarded to West House

Barrow and South Lakeland

·  Grant awarded to Carlisle Mencap

Carlisle and Eden

·  Grant awarded to Carlisle Mencap

We are working closely with the successful applicants in order for the delivery of services to start from 1 October 2016. There will be no change in the services you receive over the next three months and very little change in service following the handover to the successful applicant. However, there are some changes that were proposed which we will provide more information on as we go forward, these are:

1.  An increase in the opening hours at the overnight short breaks home, The Elms in Workington.

2.  The establishment of an Advisory Group for each area. This ground will include families who currently use the services and will be an important part of supporting improvement in services.

As we move towards 1st October 2016 further information will be provided by the Council and your service provider.
